This course is designed to equip individuals with the expertise required to thrive in the ever-evolving landscape of cargo operations and pricing.

Learn to develop robust cargo operation plans at competitive pricing, leveraging strategic insights to meet industry demands. Delve into the creation of tactical cargo rates, including unpublished rates and utilizing advanced cargo pricing models.

Through this course, participants will get a comprehensive understanding and application of calculating total distribution costs by exploring key performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of cargo pricing strategies.

In addition, through practical exercises and real-world scenarios, participants will gain the skills needed to navigate the complexities of the cargo industry, and be able to develop and implement pricing strategies that are both competitive and financially sound.

Module Content
  • Develop and maintain cargo pricing models that can be rapidly applied during sales and business development efforts to affiliate new customers
  • Develop tactical cargo rates to meet shippers and consignees’ needs and ensure market competitiveness
  • Develop unpublished rates with advanced construction and combination principles
  • Calculate rates and charges for mixed consignments, Unit Load Devices (ULDs) and complete Air Waybill (AWB)
  • Review new market developments, and suggest related measures and other approaches to ensure pricing is competitive
  • Develop cargo handling and delivery operations plans in compliance to rating principles as well as operator variations
  • Develop reliable and affordable transportation systems using cargo rating principles to fulfil needs of shippers and consignees
  • Review pricing effectiveness according to key performance metrics
Methodology
Lessons are conducted in a structured yet pragmatic manner as lectures are blended with classroom/group discussions, case studies and presentations. The group discussions give participants the opportunities to share their experience while case studies & presentations help the practice and application of concepts and approaches learned through the course.
Learning Outcomes

  • Develop tactical cargo, unpublished rates using cargo pricing models.
  • Calculate total distribution cost to review effectiveness of cargo pricing as per key performance metrics.
  • Shipping Specialist, Import Export Specialist, Manager, Assistant Manager, Supervisor, Team Lead in the logistics or freight forwarding and operations of a logistics organisation.
  • PMEs who have the relevant work experience from other service industries or sectors wanting to enhance their knowledge and skills, wanting to expand their job portfolio or are seeking national certification/qualification in the Logistics sector specialising in freight forwarding and operations.
  • PMEs and career switchers with supervisory or managerial experience, or individuals in other related industries or wanting to join the logistics sector specialising in Freight Forwarding and Operations.
  • Applicants must be proficient with digital devices and apps to attend the e-Learning delivery mode and complete all online assessments independently.
